A Brief History

MOMENTUM as a publisher began in Jakarta by publishing the magazine Momentum in 1988 by Ps. Dr. Stephen Tong. At that time it was thought to be a publication, because it saw the need for Christian books with Reformed theology in Indonesian. Starting with the transcript of the Christian Faith Development Seminar and the translation of several books in English, MOMENTUM Literature began to take part and be a blessing to many people. Since then, MOMENTUM Publishers have increasingly been developing publishing transcripts of Ps. Stephen Tongs sermons and seminars. Dr. Stephen Tong and several other GRII servants of God, as well as translating quite a number of books from English into Indonesian..

Outlet Networks and MOMENTUM Christian Books Store was first established in Surabaya by Bp. Leo Sutanto and Bp. James Hartono Setio in 1989, who was burdened to see the need for good Christian literature and could support the growth of the faith of believers. In Jakarta, Outlet MOMENTUM was started by Rev. Sutjipto Subeno in 1993 in Tanah Abang III. In 1996, all MOMENTUM Publisher management and the MOMENTUM Bookstore Network were united at Andhika Plaza block C / 6-7, Surabaya. Since then, MOMENTUM has become the MOMENTUM Christian Literature Center. Currently MOMENTUM outlets are developing in addition to Jakarta and Surabaya, but also in Malang, Yogyakarta, Batam and will expand to various countries such as Australia and the USA.

Vission

We see a lack of Christian literature which is needed both in terms of quality and quantity, in terms of theological and practical for the growth of the faith of believers in Indonesia. Various Christian publishers only pursue best-selling books, but often do not develop true theology. On the other hand, high-quality and good books are not published because they may not be very interested

We see that Christians in Indonesia are very poorly read and grow through literature. Christians in Indonesia are still satisfied with short sermons every week at church. The spirit of critical study and the desire to understand more deeply still not grow well and have not become a widespread culture. From here The Center for Christian Literature MOMENTUM is called upon to work on this strenuous yet grandiose task.

Action

And what do we do ...? The MOMENTUM Christian Literature Center began by publishing several books, building a chain of bookstores that were all done in a non-profit spirit. The MOMENTUM Christian Literature Center to date is fully supported by GRII (Indonesian Evangelical Reformed Church) in various facilities and financially. Without this support, we are difficult to survive, because the books that we publish are not popular books, which are easy to read, but which are really needed by the times, every believer in Indonesia needs for them to be able to grow firmly in their faith. MOMENTUM Christian Literature Center strives to provide the best possible facilities for each of its members.

We strive so that Christians, especially servants of God, who are members of MOMENTUM can get good books, with very strict selection and at the lowest possible price. Thus, more people can afford to buy and read good books. We hope that those who are able can support this ministry for MOMENTUMs existence to grow and be able to be a blessing to more believers. There are some children of God who love Literature so much that set aside their funds into sponsorship funds for publishing MOMENTUM books. Some help in spreading in various fellowships, churches, institutions and various Christian ministries. Thus the existence of these good books can increasingly become a widespread blessing.
